Cornerstone Academic offers SAT Prep courses at our Suwanee Center and Live Online! Each course gives students 18-hours of top-notch instruction and 12 hours of rigorous practice on official SAT practice tests. Each session meets for 3 hours. Our in-person SAT Prep Courses are held at our Suwanee Center located in Suwanee Town Park. What is covered during the course?
The SAT Prep Courses cover the following:
- A review of all the concepts that are tested on the SAT
- More than 225 strategies for answering various types of questions.
- Practice on official SAT questions.
There are also four full-length diagnostics administered during the SAT prep course. These allow students to practice what they have learned in a simulated test setting and track their progress.
How long is each session?
In each of the SAT Pre Courses, the sessions are 3 hours long. Please review the schedule to see the specific times for each session in the course.
Who are your instructors?
Our instructors are experts in the field of SAT prep. On average, our instructors have more than 4000 hours of tutoring experience working with us.
Our instructos have scored in the 95th-percentile or higher on the SAT/ACT exams. We routinely take the official exams to ensure that we are staying on top of the changes in the exam and making the appropriate adjustments to the curriculum used in the SAT Prep Courses.
What do I need to bring with me to class?
Students must bring the following items with them to the SAT Prep Course they attend:
- a testing device (laptop, iPad, or school-managed Chromebook),
- Writing utensils (pencils, erasers, etc.)
- Notebook
- Water/snack (something non-crumbly)
- Light jacket (sometimes it’s cold in the classroom)
All SAT Prep Course-related materials will be provided to the students as the course progresses. Some materials may be sent digitally and some may be handed out as physical copies.
What kind of score improvements can I expect?
On average, students improve their score by 150 points after completing one of our SAT Prep Courses.
There are some nuances, however:
- Students wo complete all four diagnostic exams, complete all the additional practice we provide as homework, review the results for each diagnostic, and attend every class, improve their score by an average of 232 points.
- Students who complete only 2 of the 4 diagnostics improve their score by 40-70 points.
- If you start with a 1500, you certainly won’t improve your score by more than 100 points.
In general, the more effort you put into the SAT Prep Course, the more you will get out of it.
Is a classroom course the right for me?
The SAT Prep Courses are conducted in a classroom setting (group setting). The classroom course format is best suited for students who are comfortable learning in a fast-paced, group setting. The SAT covers concepts through Precalculus, so the curriculum is most effective if you are already familiar with the concepts.
If you don’t feel comfortable in a group setting, or if the schedule doesn’t work for you, or if you feel that you have significant gaps in your understanding of your course materials, we recommend 1-on-1 tutoring so that your specific areas of weaknesses can be addressed.
